Days of Our Lives Recap: Lucas Asked the Toughest Question Of All

Days of Our Lives recap for Monday, September 23, 2019, featured a day of bitterness, rivalries, and heartbreak for your favorite Salemites. Lucas got a harsh reality check, Gabi chose a side, and Kristen went on and on about her grand plans for motherhood.

The Heart of the Matter

The hospital set the scene for several tearful moments. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) was forced to give Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) devastating news – his mother would never make it off life support. This is it for Kate (Lauren Koslow) and it’s only a matter of time before there will be choices to make.

At the same time, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) got a urgent request from Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). She made Hope promise to take care of Doug (Bill Hayes) for now, and especially if the worst happens.

In a heartbreaking twist, Lucas spent time with Julie and was the one to break the news about Kate. All this time Julie was unaware of what was going on next door. Hearing Kate was also circling the drain brought tears to her eyes.

The whole situation had Lucas crying too. He realized what he had to do and asked Kayla if his mother’s heart could save Julie.

Lies and Damage Control

Meanwhile, big drama unfolded at the DiMera mansion. Will (Chandler Massey) got caught eavesdropping by Gabi (Camila Banus). No big deal, right? Well, at least not in that moment. However, all hell broke loose when he came face to face with Viv and Stefan (Brandon Brash). He demanded the truth but, of course, he didn’t get it.

Vivian was all deny, deny, deny and her son backed her up. Not only that but Gabi took her side too. No sense messing with a legend, right? Gabi hates Viv but she loves Stefan and would never do anything to hurt him (or so she says). Will left empty-handed and furious.

Baby Business

Over at the Kiriakis mansion, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) continued to plot her newest baby stealing scheme and was darn near giddy. Even Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) interrupting her and Xander’s (Paul Telfer) jam session didn’t put a damper on the baddie’s day. In fact, it strengthened her resolve.

Xander tried to fight back and protect Sarah but it was no use. Kristen had too much dirt on him and threatened to use it all to get her way. The only thing Xander could do was take care of Sarah the best he could.

The Girl Is Poison

Speaking of Kristen, she was all Brady (Eric Martsolf) could think about. He turned to Sonny (Freddie Smith) for advice on how to stay away. Little did Brady know Kristen was well on her way to snagging him forever (if things go her way). Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
