The Days of our Lives Recap for Thursday, May 16 features a day of harsh reality checks. The mayoral race came to a shocking end, Haley learned her mother’s real past, and Claire tried to make amends.
Congratulations Mr. Mayor!
The results were in and Jack was hailed the Mayor-Elect of Salem. He and Eve (Kassie DePaiva) were over the moon by the news, but they were the only ones.
Abe (James Reynolds), for one, was not pleased. He will soon have to give up his seat and watch Mayor Deveraux destroy all his hard work.
Hope (Kristen Alfonso) also took issue with the news, and her reaction cost her dearly. Jack made it clear he wouldn’t be keeping her around. The only people in his confidence would be people he can actually trust.
Poor Hope was blindsided but luckily, Ted was right there to pick up the pieces. He stole her away for dinner, drinks, and a strong shoulder to lean on. This time, his moves worked.
Speaking of secrets, Claire’s was out and it ruined her life. She lost Tripp, lost her temper, and was practically losing her mind. Ciara found her in the middle of a fit of rage and tried to calm her down. Even when the truth came out, Ciara shockingly stood by Claire’s side.
Haley (Thia Megia) was treated to a dark family secret when Melinda laid all her cards on the table.
Melinda was a young, unmarried woman with no hope of a future with her baby daddy. So, instead of bringing shame to her family, and hardship onto Haley, she allowed her parents to raise her child.
Haley reeled from the shock but this reveal did not change facts. She defrauded the government and was being deported regardless. She faced a long road back to her hometown and a life she left behind years ago.
Thankfully, a plan was underway to save her. Tripp (Lucas Adams) showed up in the nick of time, attacked the ICE agent. JJ (Casey Moss) then grabbed Haley and made a fast getaway.
