The Days of our Lives recap for Monday, July 12, 2021, features Justin Kiriakis choosing prudency over expediency, Julie Williams seeing dead people, and Bonnie Lockhart desperately trying to prove that she had friends and a stable fella.
While Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) sat around playing chess, badmouthing Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), and discussing Chad’s utter failure as a husband, Ben joined Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) in begging Justin (Wally Kurth) to represent their interests. Ciara wants a divorce; Ben wants to stall the proceedings until she remembers him and their marriage…no matter how long that takes.
In a showing of just exactly how smart he truly is, Justin declined to take either party on as a client. Ben and Ciara were stunned by the turn of events, and Ben attempted to use it to his advantage. Doesn’t Ciara think that this is a sign that she should just stop all this silly divorce talk? … No, she bloody well doesn’t, thank you very much Mr. Necktie Killer Sir!
Of all the rules, the one that Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) holds most sacred, is that the Horton antique sofa must be protected at all costs. So, it’s not that she begrudges Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) their desire to fornicate like rabbits…it’s just that she’d rather they do it upstairs, in Gwen’s bedroom, behind a closed (and preferably locked) door. Is that too much to ask?
Xander and Gwen don’t think so – or they say that any road – so all is forgiven. Or it was all forgiven, until Julie spied with her little judgmental eye, a photograph of Dr. Clay Snyder (Michael Lowry), and realized that the dead doc was the deadbeat who’d sullied her grandparents’ beloved antique sofa!
Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), having apparently learned from decades of past mistakes, is now quite convinced that things concerning his daughter and Xander aren’t quite on the up and up.
To alleviate, or confirm, his suspicions, Jack turns to his brother, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), P.I. extraordinaire – and he learns that he’s in luck. Steve’s already got a file started on his errant niece.
Bonnie’s (Judi Evans) got herself a plan: convince Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) to be her matron of honor, at a wedding she’s not yet planned because she’s not yet popped the question to Justin. Problem is, Kayla isn’t the least bit interested…but she put on a good show, and she managed to make Bonnie feel good about herself. Which is probably a good thing since Justin gave a definitive no when his lover made her pitch.
