Days of our Lives fans are still trying to catch up on what they missed during Salem’s skipped year. Why would Will (Chandler Massey) kill Adrienne (Judi Evans)? What happened to Haley (Thia Megia) and how was JJ (Casey Moss) involved? Why has no one noticed that Hope (Kristian Alfonso) is Gina yet?
But at least there’s some good news. Steve (Stephan Nichols) is on his way back! Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) should be all giddy and a-twitter. (Or at least she was, not anymore in 2020.) Are you? Over 10,000 Salem savants voted!
Patch, Pretty Please
Of course, we’re excited, a majority 90% of the audience is practically vibrating with anticipation. You’ve been following Steve Johnson since he was Patch Johnson, a man named after something he wore and obviously the inspiration for the soap opera spoof character named Brace.
You fell in love with Steve and his Sweetness, you rooted for them to wed (and gasped when Kayla got her hearing back in the middle of their vows), and mourned Steve’s death.
He returned over a decade later and you fell for Steve and Kayla all over again. It was a long wait while he was off in Washington, DC, first proving that he hadn’t committed treason with his bionic eyeball, then… uhm… taking in the sights? But now he’s back and happy days are here again! Wait… what do you mean Kayla has a new boyfriend?
Pass Patch
Maybe that’s why 10% of Days of our Lives fans are totes over this tortured couple. It’s tough to root for a pairing when they’ve spent more time apart than together since meeting in the 1980s.
Maybe they’re not merely star-crossed, maybe they were never meant to be. Maybe fate doesn’t want them together, which is why it keeps messing with them.
In any case, you’re not in the mood for another story about Steve and Kayla reunited only to be wrenched apart. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
