Steve and Hope have quite the complex history on Days of our Lives. Back in the day, he was an ex-friend of Bo’s (Peter Reckell) from the Merchant Marines. They fought over a woman named Britta, and Bo put Steve’s eye out.
When Steve (Stephen Nichols) came to Salem, he was Victor’s (John Aniston) thug for hire. In his spare time, he liked to play little tricks on Bo’s ladylove, Hope (Kristian Alfonso). Like tie her to a chair and tell her he had a bucket of acid positioned over her head. Wacky!
But that’s all water under the bridge now. (It’s also what was really in the bucket — water.) Bo’s dead. Steve’s been dead. Hope’s been dead. She’s lost the love of her life, he’s doing his best to drive away his. Should this odd couple pair up romantically? The verdict from over 3,000 fans:
Do you think it’s a random coincidence that their smoosh name would either be “Stope” or “Heve,” 69% are wondering? Stop, before we heave! This is a very, very bad idea. If these two had any sort of attraction towards each other, we would have known it decades ago. They didn’t. They don’t. They won’t.
They’ve known each other for too long. They’re practically family. Putting Steve and Hope together would be as silly as pairing up Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and… and… and Justin (Wally Kurth)!
A much smaller 18% of you actually like the idea. For one thing, you disagree, there was always an attraction between Steve and Hope, going back to his drug pushing days. He’s a dangerous bad boy, just the way Hope likes ’em. She’s waited long enough. Let’s give this a shot!
And then there’s the 13% who realizes Hope and Steve have a lot in common: The whole turned-into-another-person-by-Stefano (and Dr. Rolf) thing. They can get a fling out of that. As long as it doesn’t last long. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
