Nobody watches a soap if they don’t love at least some of the characters, and Days Of Our Lives is no exception. Almost 3,000 viewers named their favorite for 2019.
Days of Our Lives: The Doctor Is In
In the early 1980s, when Marlena (Deidre Hall) was presumed killed off by the Salem Strangler, angry and heartbroken fans picketed the studio. (It was actually her twin sister, Samantha — yes, Sami’s namesake; they also had the scheming gene in common.)
Almost 40 years, Marlena is still tops for 37% of you! So maybe she should get a bigger story than just constantly walking in on her husband and “friend” then narrowing her eyes and saying, “hmm.” (Which is still more on the ball than most.)
The Other Doc
Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) is a doctor, too! And only a slightly smaller 33% of the audience loves her just as much. They may not be sure how they feel about the new relationship with Justin (Wally Kurth), or how they’ll feel when she realizes Stefano is now living in Steve’s (Stephen Nichols) body. But they love Kayla, nonetheless!

You Gotta Have Hope
She’s not really herself these days, so 20% of Days of Our Lives fans are very specific with their vote — you love Hope (Kristian Alfonso), not Princess Gina. You love the police chief who is a loving mom to Ciara (Victoria Konefal), and a good friend to Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) — not the fake-accented royal who throws her off balconies. So bring her back! And come let us adore her!
Man Wanted
Only one man made this list, when 7% voted for John (Darke Hogysten). The Powers That Be think viewers are interested in hunky guys to fuel their fantasies. But this poll suggests we’re more interested in heroines we can relate to, ones we can love and root for, and maybe even envy a little. Plus, one extremely loyal man.
