It hasn’t even been a year since Days of our Lives jumped ahead by a year in story. Nonetheless, fans have some very strong opinions about the unprecedented storytelling technique.
And this is a genre that already had visiting aliens, talking dolls, and time travel. Oh, and devil possession. Let us not forget devil possession. That one was local! Almost 3,000 viewers confided in us how they really feel:
The nays have it, as 46% of the audience asserts this is the worst thing DAYS has ever done. You could abide by devil possession. You could live with a backward-spelled island that harbored the presumed dead.
You swallowed Sami (Alison Sweeney) passing herself off as a man and virtual reality Eden and John (Drake Hogysten) still being able to take out the bad guys instead of sipping smoothies at the retirement home. But this – THIS! – you will not condone!
A more patient 38% of Days of our Lives fans are still trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together, especially when it comes to the baby Mickey switch, Jordan’s (Chrishell Stause) murder, and the return of Orpheus (George DelHoyo). You’re willing to continue giving it a chance, but there better be a super-duper payoff at the end to make up for the radical disruption.
Only 16% of you feel this was the best move Days of our Lives ever made. It turbo-charged all the stories, skipped to the good parts instead of forcing you to wade through the boring setup. Primetime shows are allowed to skip days, weeks, even months at a time, so why shouldn’t daytime be afforded the same luxury?
Stories should be told in the manner best suited for them, not stuck to some arbitrary time-frame. You go, DAYS, be a trend-setter! We’re right behind you! Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
