No Days of our Lives character has ever won a Nobel Prize. Or a Pultizer. Or joined MENSA. However, many did finish college — and medical and law school — in some serious record time.
Nonetheless, Salem has never been accused of being the smartest town in America. But have they hit a particular high — or low — recently? Seriously. It’s been over a year, and no one has noticed that wholesome, all-American Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) is actually European royalty and part-time painter Princess Gina?
Well, OK, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) did. And it took her a lot less time than a year, too. But then Gina helped her whoopsie-daisy over the balcony, and she spent the past 12 months in a coma, waking up with no memory of how she’s been tossed. What’s everyone else’s excuse? Are they just too stupid to live?
And since everyone in Salem is most often doing stupid things… yeah, they are very, very stupid, 95% of Days of our Lives fans decree without hesitation. Ciara (Victoria Konefal) may be busy with trying to clear Ben’s (Robert Scott Wilson) name, and Rafe (Galen Gering) is all about baby David.
But what about Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes)? They have nothing better to do. And they love sticking their noses into other people’s business. At least Marlena (Deidre Hall) seems to be buying a clue. Did you see the stink-eye she gave “Hope” upon finding her with John (Drake Hogysten)? Go get ‘er, Doc!
Only 5% of you are willing to give the folks of Salem the benefit of the doubt. Hope always was a bit of a spoiled diva. You just figure she’s reverting to type now that everyone else has found something better to do. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
