Few people bring the fun like “Days of Our Lives” star Patrika Darbo. She first joined the show in 1999 as Chloe’s trouble-making mom, and will be returning to Salem for a few episodes later this year.

If you’ve never had the opportunity to meet this firecracker, we can tell you that she is a ball of energy and absolutely hilarious. Soap Hub sat down with the fan favorite recently to find out what she’s been up to during her time away.

Loose Lips Sink Shows
Recently, DAYS announced that Darbo will return to the show for a brief stint. We hoped the actress could give us a bit of tease.

“We don’t air until November so of course I can’t even talk about this. It’s fun, there’s things going on there that I can’t share,” she laughed, knowing full well that TPTB prefer to keep a tight lid on upcoming storylines. Bummer. But we can’t wait to see it!

Full Disclosure
So, what can she discuss?

“I just finished [working on the online soap opera] ‘The Bay.’ It just won the Emmy for Best Show again, and I’m glad to be a part of that.”

Darbo plays Mickey, alongside other DAYS actors like Matthew Ashford (ex-Jack), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) and good pal, Martha Madison (Belle).

Mad About Martha
“Martha and I talk a lot. We’re trying to work on producing things together. She is amazing. We worked together on ‘Ladies of the Lake.’

The mini-series is based on the novel of the same name by “Days of Our Lives” executive producer, Ken Corday. So how did Patrika’s part as Dorothy go?

“I went to jail, and I have no idea if I’m going to get out of jail. I hope I get out of jail,” she laughed. “That’s a little teaser.”

Other Projects
“I just finished doing ‘The Hero’ with Sam Elliott, which is a great film.” It’s a drama about an ailing movie star coming to terms with his past and mortality,” she explained.

So what was he like to work with?

“He’s a doll – the nicest man on the face of the earth,” she beamed. “I also just finished ‘God Bless the Broken Road,’ which was written and directed by Harold Cronk, who did ‘God’s Not Dead.’ So I’m keeping busy, that’s the most important thing.”

Future DAYS?
“I talk to Kevin [Spirtis, her onscreen husband Craig]. I adore Kevin.”

The actress made no bones about wanting him back in Salem, too.

“They keep bringing our daughter [Chloe] back. I’m grateful for that,” she admitted happily. Could she see herself back in Salem full time? “I think we were fan favorites. Kevin and I would have fun together.”

Frankly, Salem could use some fun about now after nearly a year full of dark doom and gloom. But, where would they fit in?

“We had a daughter, Joy. They could certainly find a Chloe look-alike but younger and bring her on. And we raised, Joy. We didn’t raise Chloe so just imagine what she’d be like. There could be some great story stuff there.”
