Days of Our Lives News Update: Longtime Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng OUT!

Soaps being on a production hiatus due to the coronavirus hasn’t prevented backstage changes from occurring. According to published reports, longtime Days of Our Lives co-executive producer and Executive in Charge of Production, Gregory Meng, is out!

Shocking Days of Our Lives Shakeup

Daytime Confidential broke the news that Meng, a 30-year veteran with the serial, has been fired. There was no reason given for his exit.

Meng did more than co-executive produce and oversee the show’s production. He launched the show’s app — the DOOL App — which is essentially an online magazine and home to limited series Chad & Abby in Paris and the Last Blast Reunion.

He authored the following books Days of our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration in Photos in 2010, Days of our Lives Better Living: Cast Secrets for a Healthier, Balanced Life in 2013, and Days of our Lives 50 Years in 2015.

A graduate of Oklahoma City University with a degree in music, Meng attended UCLA’s School of Film & Television. He landed a position in the NBC Page Program, launching his entertainment career. He became a co-executive producer of DAYS in 2011.

There’s no word yet on when DAYS will return to production or who will be taking over Meng’s duties.

Days of our Lives History

DOOL made its debut in 1965 and is one of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American history. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, five decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) evil schemes to Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) one-liners to the epic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), DAYS knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
