It’s been a while since we’ve seen Jen Lilley’s Theresa Donavan pop up on Days of our Lives, but the actress has stayed plenty busy with holiday movies, appearing in no less than five since 2018, including Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday, Love Unleashed, and Winter Love Story among them.

The actress also hosts the Fostering Hope podcast in which she talks with experts about foster care and adoption.

Lilley took to her Instagram account to talk about one of her recent guests on the show—Stacy DeWitt, executive director of James Storehouse in Newbury, Calif.

“One of my favorite ways to help #fosterlove is donating to a local #fostercare closet,” the actress wrote, alongside a group of photos of the non-profit. “If you have gently used or new items like a crib, toys, clothes, car seats (check to make sure they’re not expired), pack n plays, bouncers, etc, I highly encourage you to donate these items to a foster care closet in your area.”

Lilley has been a big advocate for the foster care system, having adopted her son Kayden through the foster process. Her podcast brings a lot of attention to all those doing great things with the foster care system and she encourages people to get involved to help.

“Foster closets allow great foster homes like mine take in an emergency abuse or neglect case,” Lilley said. “For example, you can’t say yes to an infant in need unless you have a crib, car seat, and basic essentials. Foster closets like James Storehouse meet those needs on demand so a child is not turned away. They also host lavish baby showers for teen moms, host parenting and job training classes, and bless the birth parents. I’m kind of obsessed with this organization, and I’m so honored to call them friends.”

The actress has made no secret about her desire to return to Salem if the opportunity presented itself. And with big sister Eve headed back this summer, maybe it’s time for Theresa and Tate (her kid with Brady) to return and up the family reunion.

One of my favorite ways to help #fosterlove is donating to a local #fostercare closet. Here in SoCal, we’re all blessed by the incredible @jamesstorehouse (who’s founder Stacy, was a guest on my podcast #FosteringHope last month). If you have gently used or new items like a crib, toys, clothes, car seats (check to make sure they’re not expired), pack n plays, bouncers, etc, I highly encourage you to donate these items to a fostercare closet in your area. If you need more info, check out Stacy’s episode of my podcast, #FosteringHope. Foster closets allow great foster homes like mine take in an emergency abuse or neglect case.
