There seemed a bit of confusion among fans about recent events on Days of our Lives and the role Gwen played in the poisoning of Abby, but head writer Ron Carlivati has come to the rescue.
What happened was Gwen (Emily O’Brien) poisoned one of two glasses delivered to the table, and some viewers didn’t know if her intended victim was really Abby (Marci Miller) or Chad (Billy Flynn), especially since the two seemed to change seats when they returned to the table. In a Tweet, DAYS’ head writer explains what really happened.
“It was written so that Abby and Chad both leave the table, then Julie brings/pours the champagne,” he says. “Gwen has been watching so she knows who is sitting where, she walks by and pours the vial in Abby’s glass, then Abby and Chad return to the table and drink.”
He also explained in a follow-up Tweet that it was directed differently than written, which probably added to the confusion and might explain the seat exchange. But considering Gwen didn’t flinch when they sat down, it was obvious the poison was meant for Abby.
As viewers know, the poisoning left Abby with hallucinations that people are either trying to kill her or Chad and she’s acted out against people.
Now, some other confusion could be in the fact that Kate Mansi was playing Abby at the time of the poisoning, and actress Marci Miller is now playing the role and seems to have the hallucinations under check after Abby left town to get professional help.
With her sights set on Chad for herself, Gwen will most likely continue to have it in for Abby. It’s nice to see someone new play the villainous role in their relationship so it’s not just a retread of Gabi getting in the way. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC.
