Despite portraying the Necktie Killer, Robert Scott Wilson has been able to win Days of our Lives fans over as Ben, mainly thanks to his redemption love story with Victoria Konefal’s Ciara.

And even though the couple recently celebrated their wedding, a happy ending may not be in the cards as Konefal has decided to exit the show. According to Soap Opera Digest, the actor fully supports his on-screen love’s exit and wishes Victoria Konefal plenty of future success.
“I’ve got nothing but respect and love [for] her,” Wilson shared. “I support her 1,000 percent. I want her to skyrocket and her career to take off. If for some reason she doesn’t crack something good, I hope we can pick up where we left off, because we’ve got something special. I know the work that we’ve put up, and I’m proud of it. I’m proud of her.”
While the news of Konefal leaving the show may have shocked fans, Wilson admitted he has known the sad day was coming for quite some time.
“When we first talked about this and she said that she wanted to leave, I was like, ‘I’ve got your back. I get it. You need to be able to spread your wings and try other things,’” he told SOD. “She’s super-talented, and I expect her to do well.”
You’ll soon see Ciara disappear and Ben won’t even remember what happened to her. But that leaves the door open for the actress’s Days of our Lives return one day — or at least the character if the soap chooses to recast.
If that happens, Wilson knows it will be different, but it would at least keep the love of Ben and Ciara alive.
“It would be hard shoes to fill,” he said. “Godspeed to whoever would have to do it. But the show kind of has to go on, unfortunately. I don’t think that would be the move right now, to recast her. I think it should breathe a little bit and see what happens. Maybe she comes back.” Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
