Don’t worry, Days of our Lives fans. If you think you missed anything on the soap on September 17, you didn’t. NBC pre-empted the show on Thursday and will do so again on Friday.
Days of our Lives Back On Monday
Instead of DAYS, the network will air the U.S. Open Golf Tournament live from Mamaroneck, NY as it also did on Thursday. That may be why Wednesday’s episode seemed like a Friday with Allie (Lindsay Arnold) returning to Salem just as her mom was booking a flight to take off to Europe with her baby.
Being pre-empted for two days gives the soap a little extra time to tape new episodes after COVID-19 forced a hiatus for nearly six months. Days of our Lives was supposed to be pre-empted for two weeks for the Summer Olympics this year, but COVID also forced that worldwide event to be canceled, leaving the soap with fewer episodes to get it through the fall.
While the other three daytime dramas returned to production this summer, DAYS did not return until early this month and will no longer be 6-8 months behind in taping. Instead, it will be about a month behind and we should see newly-taped episodes on-air in October.
When we last saw Days of our Lives on Wednesday, we learned John (Drake Hogestyn) had a brand-new personality after he called Sami (Alison Sweeney) a bitch and threw a plant at her. That is something we’ve never seen from the mild-mannered John. We also saw the beginning of the end of Greg Vaughan’s latest stint on the soap, as a friend from Eric’s time in Africa paid a visit begging him to return. And, of course, at the very end, we saw Allie walk into the DiMera mansion ready to confront her mother.
DAYS will be back on Monday to continue these stories so don’t forget to tune in. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
