Wednesday may have been National Dog Day for everyone else but for Days of our Lives star Lauren Koslow, it was the day she let her social media followers know about the horrible loss she and her family experienced, having to say goodbye to their beloved dog, Ferg.

“Our hearts are broken 💔Rest in peace our beautiful girl – big mama to our pack,” Koslow wrote on Instagram — and what a pack she has. The actress is quite the dog lover, but Ferg was their leader, “beloved by her family & friends- thanks for adopting us from the side of the road – who ever left you there ten years ago missed out on the most wonderful dog evrrrrrrr.”
But their loss was certainly a huge gain for the actress and her family, as anyone can tell from the multitude of pictures she included in the post, which you can see below. Her dog was an integral part of the family — laying with her daughter, looking at little chicks, going to the beach, and just sharing tons of love with everyone as dogs love to do.
The actress who has played Kate since 1996 wasn’t done with her tribute, adding, “forever&always in our hearts we love you Ferg & we’ll see you again one day – enjoy your wings – run free ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘”
Last October, Ferg had suffered a health crisis and Koslow shared what happened to try to help other dog owners at the time writing, “Home Sweet Home – our #pittie, Fergie had a sunspot on her leg that turned into a cancerous tumor. Luckily, it was removed successfully and she’s recovering well. Important reminder – sunbathing is not healthy for light or pink-skinned dogs 🐶 especially our shorthaired bully breeds- check for sunspots and growths and have them removed early. Sunscreens for dogs are available too, read labels to avoid toxic ingredients (Zinc Oxide) 🐶 🐕”
