The soap opera revolving door takes another spin today. Actress Isabel Durant is making her debut as Days of our Lives’ Claire, the role previously played by Daytime Emmy winner Olivia Rose Keegan. Now, the soap’s Daytime Emmy-winning scribe, Ron Carlivati, is speaking out on the switch.
Days of our Lives: A Change In Claires
“A huge thank you to @oliviakeegann who brought Claire Brady to life and made us care about her even when she was at her most dastardly,” Carlivati tweeted. “Wishing Olivia all the best as she writes her next chapter… #days.” Next, the scribe welcomes Keegan’s successor. “But as one chapter ends, another begins,” Carlivati continued, “Please help me welcome Isabel Durant to Salem as she steps into the role of Claire…@nbcdays! #days.”
The NBC serial has had many recasts over the years. Catherine Mary Stewart first played the part of Kayla before Mary Beth Evans took on the role. Patrick Muldoon brought to life boxer Austin Reed prior to Austin Peck stepping into the character.
Christie Clark was both the second and the fourth Carrie Brady; Andrea Barber of Full House fame originated the role, followed by Clark. After Clark exited, Traci Middendorf was hired to play Carrie; then, producers invited Clark back to reprise the role.
Lisa Rinna originated the role of Billie Reed. After she exited, Krista Allen assumed the part. Rinna returned but left again. Next, Julie Pinson became Billie. She left and later, Rinna came back once again.
Some DAYS actors create one role only to come back to Salem playing a different part. First, Josh Taylor was Chris Kositchek and then he became Roman Brady. Kyle Lowder was Brady Black. He left the show only to return later as Rex Brady, the role previously played by Eric Winter.
