Days of our Lives fans are still getting over the shock of learning Greg Vaughan will be exiting his role as Eric sometime soon, as the fan-favorite has been part of the Salem canvas for eight years.
While Vaughan has already taken to social media to send his thanks and love to his fans and castmates, many of those he’s worked with through the years are saying their own goodbyes.
James Reynolds, a DAYS stalwart as Abe Carver, took to Twitter to share a special message to his long-time co-star.
“Hey, buddy! I would get a script and see my scenes were with you and get happy,” he wrote next to a photo of the two friends. “Respect!”
Vaughan messaged back his own tribute. “Sir James!! You’re leadership & company was never short of learning a good lesson, laughter & leaving with a smile!!” the actor responded. “I thank you my brotha.”
Then Vaughan’s on-screen mom, the impeccable Deidre Hall weighed in on the upcoming exit as well.
“Seems the word is out. How much will I miss this gorgeous and delightful man?” Hall wrote, posting a cute shot of the two of them together. “I so admire his life choices and his determination to have all the best for himself and those he loves. I adored being his costar. Go get it, Greg!!”
Seeing his “mom” send such a message meant a lot to Vaughan, who responded in kind. “Words can’t deeply express my gratitude for [Deidre Hall] who’s truly meant more to me than her being a TV ICON!” the actor wrote. “She’s my friend, a mentor, a teacher, & always a Mom!!!”
Eric’s last appearance in Salem is rumored to be in September, though how the character will leave is still anyone’s guess. Let’s hope it’s not too long until he’s back, as Vaughan has made clear that he’s open to a return.
