Days of our Lives fans expect it’s going to be something of a sad week because fan favorites Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith, who portray the popular couple WilSon (Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis, respectively) are on their way out of Salem.
Freddie Smith And Chandler Massey Say Farewell
Count Smith among those who aren’t looking forward to the end, as he tweeted about his upcoming exit.
“The Wilson exit is coming in just two days!” he posted next to a cute photo of the couple walking away. “I know it’s going to be sad to see us go, but I want to celebrate the beautiful love story we all created together!! Let’s focus on all of the positives and love that has been shared over the years. Thank you all”
The actors made daytime history when they became the first male gay characters to be married on-screen, and also DAYS’ first gay Super Couple.
The two characters met in 2011 thanks to their mutual cousin, Abigail, and they soon entered a business partnership together with Chad DiMera. Will, who was dating Gabi at the time, was upset when she broke up with him, and he went out with Sonny and his gay friends and kisses one of them. He quickly realized that he’s gay and with Sonny’s help, comes out to his family.
Eventually, the two fell in love, but the relationship was not without its obstacles, including shootings, murder, and family interference. But through it all, fans have had a strong rooting interest for a happy ending. Let’s hope they get what they want when Smith and Massey exit.
Both actors have spoken out about how the decision to leave wasn’t their own, but the Powers That Be decided to go in a different direction. Thankfully, the writers had a chance to give them an exit storyline before the pandemic hit.
