The man behind John Black announced on his Twitter feed that he was cast in a new Hallmark Christmas movie and he was excited to be shooting his first film for the Hallmark Channel.
“We were able to shoot #ChristmasTreeLane safely and it will be coming to your living rooms this holiday season,” Hogestyn tweeted. “Thankful for this incredible opportunity that was only exceeded by working with [Alicia Witt] and [Andrew Walker]”
Hogestyn plays the father of Witt’s character, Meg Reilly, a talented pianist, singer, and songwriter who has given up performing but continues to share her love of music with the voice students she teaches in the loft above her dad’s music store on Christmas Tree Lane.
When a developer comes to town looking to do away with the businesses on the street, she leads the effort to keep the wrecking ball from coming down. Walker plays Witt’s love interest, a businessman who recently relocated to the area and has a surprising tie to the developer that could end up being the Christmas miracle they need.
Witt, who also served as executive producer for the film, has had memorable roles on everything from Friday Night Lights to Nashville to Orange Is the New Black. She started her career on Twin Peaks and also appeared as Zoey Woodbine throughout Cybill Sheppard’s Cybill for four seasons.
She replied to Hogestyn’s Tweet with a message of her own. “Loved getting to work with you, too. we were so blessed to have you there,” Witt said. “Can’t wait to share this movie in just a few months!”
Christmas Tree Lane is one of 40 new Hallmark Christmas movies premiering in 2020. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
