Days of our Lives has been without one of its most prominent Hortons for far too long: the popular and much beloved Jennifer. Since leaving town last winter to settle her mother’s estate, the character has only been seen in a few phone calls to her husband Jack. While that worked for a while, that time is over. The MIA Jennifer needs to return to Salem pronto.
With Kristian Alfonso having permanently exited the soap as Hope, and Jennifer (Cady McClain) off on an extended trip to Boston, Susan Seaforth Hayes’ Julie is now the only female senior member of the Horton clan on the canvas. Frankly, that’s not good enough. The first family of Salem deserves better representation; particularly when there’s a prominent storyline brewing about revamping the Horton Square.
Paulina (Jackée Harry), who’s wormed her way into the project, clearly has covert plans for the renovation — plans that will likely serve her well financially, but, perhaps, not so much the town’s people. When those plans are revealed, it will take more than Julie to advocate for what’s right, keep things intact, and preserve the legacy established by Tom and Alice. She’ll need help, and her cousin, Jennifer, is the perfect person to stand by her side and fight the good fight.
On the home front, poor Jack’s (Matthew Ashford) been in an odd limbo since Jennifer split town. While holding down the fort at the Horton house, he’s been refereeing Gwen (Emily O’Brien) and Xander (Paul Telfer), and fending off opposition from Julie, who’s justifiably perturbed at the vagabonds he’s invited to live under their roof.
Jennifer’s return would provide the perfect middle ground person to barter peace, understanding hubby Jack’s need to help underdogs Gwen and Xander while appeasing Julie’s desire to have the once peaceful home back to being just that.
Meanwhile, when Abigail (Marci Miller) finally returns home, she’s going to need her mother to lean on. Her world was upended by her half-sister Gwen’s plot to destroy her life.
Picking up the pieces, forgiving Chad for bedding the troublemaker, and coming to terms with Gwen’s pregnancy and miscarriage pushed Abigail to the brink. To move forward and emerge stronger from the twisted mess, she’s going to need Jennifer’s love, support, and guidance. It’s time to bring Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux home to stay.
