There was some buzz in the soap biz that fan-favorite Peter Reckell might be returning to his role as Bo on Days of Our Lives. Sure, the character died a few years back, but folks in Salem who have booked a one-way ticket to the great beyond have been known to make the journey a round-trip!
Those Peter Reckell Rumors
Speculation started that Reckell might be returning when DAYS showed Bo’s photo on-screen not too long ago when his dad, Victor (John Aniston), lamented Bo not being around to make sure Ciara (Victoria Konefal) didn’t end up with Ben (Robert Scott Wilson). As DAYS viewers recall, Bo died nearly four years ago of a brain tumor after making his way home to Salem to rescue Hope (Kristian Alfonso).
Also, Reckell, after having taken an absence from social media, following the passing of his mother, is tweeting once more, replying to fans who have accounts dedicated solely to him and his iconic character.
DAYS has done two surprise returns in the last few years. On New Year’s Eve 2017, viewers were introduced to Stefan O. DiMera (Tyler Christopher; Brandon Barash) via his mother Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel, Robin Strasser).
Last year, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) made a shocking return to Salem. Is the show going to ‘threepeat’ and do another big return this New Year’s Eve? If so, wouldn’t Bo’s resurrection be a perfect fit for an end of the year surprise?
Alas, executive producer Ken Corday, while recently visiting Australia, told MediaWeek that Bo will not be coming back to DAYS. “[Peter] is happily settled in Indiana and not coming back to Hollywood,” Corday added.
Still, DAYS fans have seen other players return who looked like they might never. Our heads are telling us Bo’s return isn’t happening, but our hearts will always feel he’s on his way back to Salem.
Days of Our Lives Does Something Daring
In addition to the Bo rumors, Corday also addressed that thing that has never been done before in daytime, which is now said to be a time jump that begins on November 8, the soaps’ 54th anniversary. “Let’s just say that the Friday cliffhanger is so gobsmacking, we are now trying to figure out how we can possibly top it for our 55th anniversary next year,” Corday said.
Stay tuned to Days of Our Lives to see what actually happens during this daring soap move, which airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for airtimes.
