Days of our Lives Head Writer Ron Carlivati Meets Jackée Harry In Person

It’s not just soap opera viewers who have fantastic encounters with their favorite actors. Recently, Ron Carlivati got to meet a Days of our Lives cast member and the event left him with, as the saying goes, “all the feels.”

“This is my final tweet because I am dead now,” Carlivati posted on Twitter along with a photo of Jackée Harry, who made her debut earlier this month as Paulina, Lani’s (Sal Stowers) aunt. “I am no longer alive. #days @JackeeHarry.”

“So good” Harry replied to her boss’s tweet. Harry joining the NBC soap was about a year in the making. A year ago, Carlivati tweeted out a GIF of Harry from the hit sitcom 227. Her character, Sandra Clarke, and her family had gone on Family Feud and in the Fast Money round, host Ray Combs asked Sandra what’s one thing she can’t live without? “A part on DAYS?” Carlivati suggested.

Last December, Harry announced on the Today show that she’d be joining the cast of DAYS. She made her debut on March 1.

Harry knows all about big-name stars doing soaps from her days as Lily Mason on Another World. During her stint in Bay City, famous pianist Liberace appeared on AW as himself, a pal of Felicia Gallant (Linda Dano, who recently did a turn on DAYS as Vivian). While many celebs have played themselves, some have taken on fictional characters as Harry has done with Paulina.

Perhaps the most famous example of a star coming onto a soap as a fictional character is Elizabeth Taylor’s turn as Helena Cassadine on General Hospital. Helena placed a curse on Laura (Genie Francis) and Luke (Anthony Geary). Sammy Davis Jr. played Eddie Phillips on GH. Carol Burnett recurred as Verla Grubbs, the long-lost daughter of Langley Wallingford (Louis Edmunds) on All My Children.

DAYS has also had many famous celebs pop on as fictional characters. Singer Leann Rimes (How Can I Live Without You) played Madison in 1998. Kyle Richards (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) played Casey McGraw in 2013.
