As soon as NBC hired Megyn Kelly away from FOX News two weeks ago and announced she’d get her own daytime show, rumors began swirling that Days of Our Lives wasn’t long for this world.
A People Magazine article with anonymous sources took those fears up a notch with fans up in arms over a possible cancellation.
Today comes word that Kelly will not be filling DAYS’ afternoon time slot, but she’ll instead NBC will shorten the TODAY Show by one hour, giving the newscaster a morning show.
With that news, DAYS fans breathed a sigh of relief that their favorite show may make it past 2017 after all.
Of course, the soap’s year-to-year contract with Sony Pictures Television is up this winter and there’s been no word of a renewal yet. However, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke told Soap Hub last week the network was “optimistic” about the show’s future.
