The last time Sami Brady was in town it was to check on the prognosis of her ailing son. To her great relief, he made a full recovery and she returned to care for another ailing loved one: her husband E.J. But actress Alison Sweeney has some big news to celebrate.
She was born on September 19, 1976, in Los Angeles, California, which means that this talented performer is turning 43 years old today! Unlike many young actors who make their performing debuts on daytime drama’s, Sweeny was practically an old pro by the time she joined her NBC sudser.
Her first acting gig was for a nationally-aired commercially for a Kodak camera. Subsequently, she appeared in episodes of Simon & Simon, Tales from the Darkside, Family Man, St. Elsewhere, and the five-part Magical World of Disney produced mini-series Brand New Life.
After appearing on Days of Our Lives in 1987 as a young Adrienne Johnson, a 16-year-old Sweeney rejoined the soap in 1993 in the role of legacy character Sami Brady. Over the next 22 years, the part would earn Sweeney eight Soap Opera Digest Award nominations and six wins as well as a special fan-voted Daytime Emmy Award for “America’s Favorite Villain.”
Outside of her work in daytime, Sweeney is well known for hosting the weight-loss reality series The Biggest Loser a position she maintained from 2007 to 2015. Since that time Sweeney has appeared in numerous projects for the Hallmark Movies and Mystery Channel including the five-film “Murder She Baked” franchise and her current project: The Chronicle Mysteries.
