Our DAYS Take: An Emotionally-Charged Episode Filled With Drama

On Friday, Days of Our Lives was filled with poignant moments rife with emotion and heartache. While we love action-packed scenes as much as anyone, when a show pares things down to the quiet moments–the emotional connection–it reminds us of why we love watching soap operas. This was such a day.

Heartbreak for Maggie
It was a bittersweet goodbye between Summer (Marie Wilson) and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers). The two cleared the air, with Summer apologizing for this and that, but admitted she would never be sorry for having met her mother. Maggie stretched out her arms, wanting one last hug with her daughter but Summer just turned and walked away. Someone please go give poor Maggie a hug!

Pledge My Love
The show started off with Steve (Stephen Nichols) declaring to Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) that nothing more important than getting her back. He poured his heart out to his Sweetness, letting him know he could change. Her fear was that if he did, he may one day resent her. These two have loved each other over the decades and you can’t help rooting for them to get it together.

The Awful Truth
After initially turning down his offer, Victor (John Aniston) appeared on Deimos’s (Vincent Irizarry) doorstep, proverbial hat-in-hand. He accepted the deal, noting that it was a good first step to making amends. But Victor went one step further because he knew that in order to really move on with his life, he had to make a confession. Victor admitted to his younger brother that he was the one who started the argument that led to Helena’s death.

He knowingly left Deimos to rot for a crime he didn’t commit all because Victor was jealous that Deimos stole Helena’s affection. He convinced himself over the last 30 years that he did nothing wrong but now he knows that he did. It had to be powerful for Deimos to finally hear what he knew to be true, but when he tried to get Victor’s forgiveness about what he did to Maggie, his brother wouldn’t budge. He had no need for a brotherly connection, and it was obvious that his rejection hurt. And with a hurt Deimos, anything can happen.
