Bye bye, Patch. Stephen Nichols makes a hasty and lackluster exit as Steve Johnson, when his character is arrested for espionage… off camera! Hence, there’s no poignant goodbye scene with leading lady Mary Beth Evan, who plays Kayla.
Nichols makes his final appearance on Friday, August 31. The character’s sudden departure had to be speedily scripted when the actor and the soap had contract negotiation troubles.
Nichols did agree to the soaps’ terms, but by then, this exit had been scripted. The door has been left open for his return, but according to the actor, the soap has not contacted him as of yet.
Scott Shilstone, remembered as Wyatt – the guy Ciara (Victoria Konefal) met online thanks to some finagling from Theo (Tyler Pettis), is heading back to the show for another run.
He’ll turn up again in November to add more fuel to the already fiery Ciara, Tripp (Lucas Adams), Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) and Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) quadrangle. Shilstone last aired in April.
Stacy Haiduk has been pulling double duty as Susan Banks and her mean, mean, mean lookalike Kristen DiMera. Although, it looks like that was just a Susan impersonation.
