After three years away from the Salem scene, James Lastovic is returning to the soap as Joey Johnson, Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla’s (Mary Beth Evans) son. The actor, who originally starred in the role from 2015 to 2017, makes his first appearance on Thursday, December 10, when his TV parents pay him a visit in prison.
Joey was sent to the slammer in 2017 after confessing to the murder of Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), who has suddenly turned up alive. During his time away from the soap, Lastovic appeared on the dark comedy/drama Insatiable, which streamed on Netflix. He portrayed Christian Keane from 2018 to 2019.
DOOL made its debut in 1965 and is one of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American history. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, five decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.
From Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) evil schemes to Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) one-liners to the epic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), DAYS knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
