Days of our Lives C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from Days of our Lives (DOOL)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the NBC soap.

The week of February 17, 2020

Expect more huge exits. Freddie Smith posted a video announcing that both he and Chandler Massey have been let go as Sonny Kiriakis and Will Horton, respectively.

The actors taped their final scenes last week. Their last episode is tentatively scheduled to air in September.

Vanessa Williams is back as Dr. Valerie Grant when the character arrives in Salem to attend her son Eli (Lamon Archey) and Gabi’s (Camila Banus) wedding. The actress was last seen in May of 2019, when Valerie attended Abe (James Reynolds) and Jack’s (Matthew Ashford) mayoral debate.

Casey Moss makes his last appearance as JJ Deveraux on Tuesday, February 18. Look for JJ to head to Africa with Jack (Matthew Ashford), Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Abigail (Kate Mansi) to attend the late Bill Horton’s memorial. Moss has since 2013.

Days of our Lives History

DOOL made its debut in 1965 and is one of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American history. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, five decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) evil schemes to Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) one-liners to the epic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), DAYS knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
