Days of our Lives C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from Days of our Lives (DOOL)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the NBC soap.

The week of January 6, 2020

The original Vivian Alamain, actress Louise Sorel, is returning to the soap for another run. Vivian last appeared onscreen in late 2019, at which point she was portrayed by daytime vet Robin Strasser, due to a scheduling conflict with Sorel.

Sorel created the eccentric character in 1992. Due to the show’s advanced taping schedule, she won’t begin airing again until the summer of 2020.

Also heading back to the soap for another visit in the months ahead is Brandon Beemer as Shawn Brady. Beemer last aired in 2019, when Shawn helped usher his daughter Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) off to a mental hospital. There’s no first airdate available at this time.

The soap has recast the role of Charlotte DiMera, Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail’s (Kate Mansi) daughter. Out are Matilda Hanna and Chloe Teperman, who shared the role. In are twins Olivia and Oakley Rondou, who made their debut as the slightly aged Charlotte on December 24.

Days of our Lives History

DOOL made its debut in 1965 and is one of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American history. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, five decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) evil schemes to Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) one-liners to the epic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), DAYS knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
