Days of our Lives C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from Days of our Lives (DOOL)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the NBC soap.

The week of December 28, 2020
On the heels of Chandler Massey’s holiday return as Will Horton, last week, comes news of Freddie Smith’s return as his devoted husband, Sonny Kiriakis, this week. Albeit, the actor won’t actually be stepping foot in Salem.

It’s another Zoom-ish casting move for the soap that just aired a video chat between Alison Sweeney’s Sami and Lindsay Arnold’s Allie on Christmas Eve. Look for Sonny to find a way to ring in the new year with Will on Wednesday, December 30, when the two men share a sweet video call.

Apparently, Smith had been invited to actually appear on the soap in person, but he declined for a good reason. He’d just driven 40 hours across the country, as he moved from California to Florida, and didn’t want to fly back to Los Angeles for one episode.

Days of our Lives History

DOOL made its debut in 1965 and is one of the longest-running daytime soap operas in American history. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, five decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) evil schemes to Victor Kiriakis’s (John Aniston) one-liners to the epic love story of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), DAYS knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), The Young and the Restless (YR), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for air times.
