Christopher Sean, who played fan-favorite Paul Narita on Days of our Lives for four years, is celebrating Asian Pacific Heritage Month by honoring his family.
In an Instagram post, Sean notes he’s “proud to be Asian American,” and shares a collection of family photos that show his parents, siblings, grandmother, and others close to him.
He explains while his dad is an American from Ohio, his mom is Japanese and hails from Yugawara.
“My dad is retired NAVY senior Chief and my mother raised three amazing kids,” he wrote. “I’ve always been proud of my parents. Even when they first met they had to overcome struggles, first and foremost language barriers. They always managed to make it work.”
Sean and his family moved around a lot when he was young, affording him the chance to live in many states and other countries; however, he shares that was difficult because he never had a solid environment and often had to start over.
“Being mixed, I never really fit in with the ‘norm’ people always found a way to make fun of me, but no matter what was said or done to me, my family always made me feel better,” Sean wrote. “Feel like nothing was ever wrong. We had our own little world that was a perfect mixture of Japanese and American cultures. Respect and Honor and Love. I will always be proud of my family. I will always strive to make them proud and honor my heritage. No matter what struggles I endure, I will always overcome. It’s in my blood.”
There’s no doubt that family means a great deal to Sean and his heritage just as much. “Being Asian American is hands down, the coolest,” he said.
Sean, who left DAYS in 2018, also starred for two seasons on the animated Star Wars Resistance and had a recurring role on CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 reboot. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
