In March, longtime Days of Our Lives star Christie Clark reported that she and her husband were battling the novel coronavirus that has put much of the world on pause, but admitted she couldn’t get tested because at the time only cases sick enough for the hospital could get a test in the UK, where she lives.
Christie Clark: On The Mend
Throughout her journey, she posted updates, and now admits how long it took to feel like herself again and detailed what a hard illness this is to overcome, even if you have a “mild” case.
Four weeks ago, Clark shared that she was on the mend and now life seems to have gotten back to a family and parenting normal for Clark, but on Wednesday she did detail her symptoms so others may know what to look for and expect.
“Hope you’re all well and safe?!?! Unbelievable times! #Homeschooling?!?! One good thing is I’m learning a ton of stuff again. Juggling 3 is tricky. Husband is on catering, shopping, dog walking, one room a day cleaning, and saving his business,” she wrote.
“A lot of you have asked what my symptoms were, so here goes:
-3 days sore throat then…
Day 1-6th-March 16th-21st
fever, chills, crazy body aches, inflamed headache, buckets of night sweats & pronounced exhaustion. 1st week I can barely remember what happened, thankfully I videotaped and wrote some stuff down.
Day 7-15- March22nd-30th
loss of taste, crazy headache, crazy vivid recurring dreams, chest tightness, dumb as a doorknob( can’t complete thoughts), sore throat, and still utterly exhausted. Things were good for a few days and then went back to being really scary. That’s the thing with this virus you think your getting better for a few days and then it comes back to rear it’s ugly head again. And it hits everyone so differently.
Day 16-23 March 31st-April 8th-sore throat and what can only be described as massively inflamed head. Keep reading about all these young folks having strokes. Scary. Had to take loads of pain relief, tons of water, zinc, and vitamin C and shot of gin most nights.
Day 24-til now – April 9th onwards…all better…just slight headaches.”
Clark, who has played Carrie Brady off and on since childhood, added how this virus affecting the globe has personally affected her, aside from falling ill herself. “I now know at least 26 people who have almost certainly had it. 5 of those got tested and were positive. 3 of those people had to go to the hospital. 5 friends of friends died. Insane.”
Soap Hub wishes continued health and healing to Clark and her husband and to anyone else affected by this virus that doesn’t know borders. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
