On the heels of Kristian Alfonso’s news that she’s leaving Days of Our Lives comes the announcement that Greg Vaughan is also exiting the NBC serial. Vaughan has played Eric on DAYS on and off since 2012.
The Emmy-winning actor broke the news on the podcast LUCKY in Low Country hosted by General Hospital stars Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli). Vaughan chatted with the two GH stars about a variety of topics, including the fact that he’s left Salem.
“Nobody knows [this yet] but I finished my reign at DAYS so, I’m back at Queen Sugar right now,” shared Vaughan, referring to the OWN series on which he plays Calvin. “I was there [at Queen Sugar] for a week [last winter] and it got shut down again.
“I just felt my time [as Eric] was coming to an end,” he notes. “I’m taking a break, if you will. For all my DAYS fans, who are listening, I love you all. It’s never over so, I’m not going to say it’s over, but…”
Burton, who’s come and gone from GH over the years, interjected, “It’s never over, buddy. Trust me.”
Indeed. Burton left GH back in 2012 and then popped up on The Young and the Restless as Dylan McAvoy, a role that won him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. After he exited Genoa City, Burton returned to GH as Jason and it was revealed that the character Billy Miller was playing wasn’t Jason at all, but rather his twin, Drew. Later, Drew was presumed dead in a plane crash.
No word on when Vaughan will last air on DAYS, but we did just see his character finally marry Nicole after 20 years of off-and-on romance. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
