On Days of our Lives, Brady let Kristen go on the run with their newly returned daughter, Rachel, so that she wouldn’t have to stand trial for stabbing Victor. Was that a mistake? Oh, let us count the ways.
We realize that the entire Mickey switch storyline was all about the feelings of the adults involved: Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), Eric (Greg Vaughan), Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), Brady (Eric Martsolf), Nicole (Arianne Zucker), Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), and even Xander (Paul Telfer). Nobody gave a damn about Mickey’s feelings.
But let’s take a moment to do so, shall we? The child was over a year old. She wasn’t some oblivious newborn. Within the span of 24 hours on Days of our Lives, she was taken away from the one person who signified security to her – Sarah, removed from the home she’d lived most of her life (we know Sarah took her to Europe, but at that point, she still had Mommy with her), and was handed over to a complete and utter stranger who was suddenly calling her a completely different name. Nope, no trauma here.
Did we mention that the total stranger was also quite mentally unstable? As in downright criminally insane? Kristen has tried to kill multiple people. She has stolen multiple babies. And, most recently, she expressed her anger against Victor (John Aniston) by stabbing him in the chest and leaving him to bleed out.
And this is the woman Brady believes is fit to raise his child. On her own. With no one to check her actions. What happens when Rachel won’t stop crying because she misses her mommy? What happens if Kristen takes that as a rejection? We know how Kristen reacts to rejection.
Sarah told Brady he was a lunatic for letting Kristen go off with Rachel. Was Sarah right? Let us know in the comments section below. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
