As Days of Our Lives fans know, Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes are multi-talented! In addition to award-winning acting they’ve been delivering for decades in daytime, the two are excellent hosts, expert world travelers, and authors! Now, they have news about a sequel to one of their previous works!
When Not On Days of Our Lives…
The Hayeses became authors in 2005 when they published their memoir titled Like Sands Through the Hourglass. The tome recounted their lives both on-screen and off. It’s filled with stories about their time as Doug Williams and Julie Olsen Williams on the NBC serial.
Next, they partnered as writers to for the novel Trumpet, which tells the tale of Lizzie, a heroine, who ages from a 16-year-old innocent to maturity. The story takes place from the years 1803-1821 and is set in England.
Recently, the couple confirmed on social media that they’re staying busy at the keyboard once more. “We are writing a sequel to our historical novel TRUMPET, which came out in 2012,” the supercouple announced on their joint Twitter account. “The sequel takes place in Charleston, SC, in 1821-1822. Its name at the moment is JUBILEE.”
On the subject of writing, the pair told Virginia Wright that there are three things every great story should have: “Truth, wit and change. We love good dialogue and really got into the scenes, reading them aloud together. Our characters are people we have known well, and we can hear them talking in our dreams sometimes. Really!
“So, there’s truth. Wit? We love humor, because life is largely funny—especially for actors with their large egos and strong grasp on unreality. As for change, all drama is based on it. Circumstances change people, so our ladies and gentlemen move through plots that are guaranteed to make them twist and develop.”
A publication date hasn’t been announced for Jubilee as of yet, but when one becomes available Soap Hub will let you know! Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
