Great minds think alike. That’s what Days of our Lives star Arianne Zucker realized when she and General Hospital actress Laura Wright recently connected and an idea to unite daytime stars and fans online was born!
Arianne Zucker Wants To Give Back
“My friend Bob Wall, and Sonia Blangiardo, a DAYS director, and I had been talking prior to COVID-19 about finding a way to give back,” Zucker tells Soap Hub. “We wanted to provide a place, a platform where people could come to where they could both learn and also give back. We were in the process of building that when Laura reached out.
“Laura and I had become friendly and we think along the same lines,” Zucker continues. “We started talking and realized this is so serendipitous. We want to give, as Laura has said, a virtual hug and show the fans in some way, shape, or form that we’re here for them.”
Zucker notes that the list of daytime actors participating in the Daytime Cares: A Live Event variety show on Saturday, May 9 at 8 p.m. ET is quite lengthy. “We just want to show our appreciation,” she says. Fully aware of the tragic proportions of the coronavirus crisis, Zucker is hopeful that society will emerge stronger in the future.
Known for her philanthropy, Zucker is hoping to help people navigate through life via her website and blog. “We’re trying to figure out how people can both receive help and give back,” she says. “We may not have the answers, but we are trying to find a way, how people, safely from home, can reach out to their community.”
As for Saturday’s Daytime Cares: A Live Event, Zucker says, “We want people to come and laugh with their favorite daytime actors.” Will she be performing? “I’ll be talking and sharing fan questions,” she says. “Shawn and I are going to be available in this streaming platform called streamyard.com — we’ll be in and out the whole night talking about Daytime Cares.
“All this is growing slowly, but surely,” Zucker says of her charitable endeavors. “I’m gaining a new audience.” Daytime Cares: A Live Event takes place Saturday, May 9 at 8 p.m. ET on YouTube’s The Locher Room. Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
