The year 2020 was quite the eventful one for Days of Our Lives veteran Peter Reckell. Not only did he and wife Kelly Moneymaker relocate to New Zealand, but the duo also collaborated on a Christmas album entitled Joy. And now that the LP has been released and met with commercial success, the actor is taking the time to thank those most responsible: the fans!
Peter Reckell Gives Thanks
Reckell took to Twitter late Monday night and posted the following: “I hope you all had a safe, healthy, happy holiday season! Thanks to all who listened to the new Holiday songs and viewed the videos. We had an amazing response and you folks were a huge part of that. As always, you are a great support for my projects. Cheers!”
In a tweet from December 2020, Reckell confessed that “Creating the JOY album, singing again, has been very rewarding.” On the compilation release, Reckell sings Under the Mistletoe, a new tune penned and produced by Moneymaker.
Aside from the former DAYS star, Joy also features the musical stylings of artists such as Nick Granville, Nikau Te Huki, ELK, Erna Ferry, and Rodger Fox, Kehan Miller, Lisa Tomlins, Rusty Halo, Mike Krompass (Mike K), Caii-Michelle, and Bella Kalolo.
Reckell’s spouse is likewise heard on the album via the original composition Candy Cane Kiss (which she duets with Granville), and the songs Reindeer Know How to Groove and Jingle Bells.
To DAYS fans, Moneymaker is probably best known for authoring the single Can’t Live Without Your Love, which wound up being incorporated into the soap as the theme song for popular supercouple Bo and Hope (played by Kristian Alfonso).
Though he has not appeared on DAYS since June 2016, (when ghost Bo made a comforting appearance to his beloved Fancy Face), Reckell still remains a firm fan favorite exemplified by an interview conducted with the actor late last year in which one of the first questions posed was would he ever return to the soap.
In response, the actor demurred, “I never say never…” But what a world Bo Brady would return home to. No Hope, owning to Alfonso’s decision to retire from the series; and a granddaughter slowly falling under the sway of a crazed rapist! There’s never a dull moment in Salem. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
