It’s been six months since Freddie Smith exited his role as Sonny Kiriakis on Days of our Lives, but the actor has been staying in the eyes of fans by regularly posting about his new life in Florida.

Freddie Smith Takes His Shot

For instance, for New Year’s Eve, he let everyone know that he spent the dawn of a new year marrying his longtime girlfriend, Alyssa Tabit, at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort.

Yesterday, he shared that he and his new bride received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. “Got our first dose of the Pfizer vaccine yesterday!” he wrote on Instagram. “Here’s how it went and how’s it going.”

Smith added a video and quickly admitted he was anxious at first because he has never had a flu shot before, but once he got to his location, the whole process was “super-smooth.”

“My wife and I walked into CVS, we went to the pharmacy, stood in line for literally three seconds, and we went and got our shots,” he shared. “The whole entire process from sitting down to getting the shot was about four minutes.”

He also noted that the pinch of the shot was barely anything, describing it as a “1 out of 10” as far as pain.

“Then you wait for 15 minutes,” Smith revealed and showed himself actually waiting in the pharmacy, which is done to make sure there’s no bad reaction.

While he said he felt fine for most of the day as he got ready for a visit from his parents, he did reveal that around 8 pm, he got really tired so he went to bed early, but felt great upon waking up the next day.

“My arm is a little sore, but so far, so good. No side effects,” Smith revealed while promising to keep fans updated on his next dose, which is on April 6.

We last saw Sonny in September, when the popular WilSon couple left Salem hand-in-hand following the somewhat shocking exits of the actor and co-star Chandler Massey (Will Horton). Massey returned for a handful of shows around the New Year, but Smith wasn’t able to make it back — but Sonny did appear via a video call with Will, which Smith was able to shoot from Florida.

With everything happening to their families these days, a visit home would be much welcomed—especially an extended visit. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
