She’s not back in Salem just yet, but Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney can be seen in a new Hallmark holiday movie titled Good Morning Christmas! In the romantic holiday-themed film, Sweeney plays a morning talk show host who is at odds with her main colleague.
Alison Sweeney: Hallmark Darling
Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) plays Brian Bright, who along with Sweeney’s Melissa Merry, hosts a morning talk show titled Merry & Bright. Sweeney recently stopped by Home & Family, hosted by Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan, All My Children) and Debbie Matenopoulos (The View) to chat about the film.
The plot for Good Morning Christmas features Melissa and Brian, two polar opposites in how they approach their professions. “Them not getting along comes from having two different mindsets,” Sweeney said on Home & Family. “She comes from planning every minute…rehearsing…He comes from the mindset of ‘I think our ratings are good because we wing it.'”
Sweeney assures any peeling behind the curtain on a daytime talk show, exposing how people may really behave in such situations, is all in good fun and in no way meant to be taken the wrong way by her Home & Family pals.
The plot thickens when Brian and Melissa are sent to a quaint little hamlet known as (what else?) Mistletoe where they are forced to spend more time with one another and their show’s supporters. “It’s such a fun idea [to do that],” Sweeney says. “When you’re on set, you can go your separate ways. Now, they’re in this small town and there are all these activities and they have to interact with their fans.”
“He’s a little ‘anti-Christmas,’ bah! humbug!” Sweeney says about her co-star’s character. “[Melissa] has to win him over to the spirit of Christmas.” At first, the pair only pretend to get along. Will that blossom into something more genuine? Tune in to find out! Good Morning Christmas! airs Wednesday, November 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.
