Actor Christopher Sean continues to break stereotypes on how television depicts Asian men in a leading romantic role on “Days of Our Lives.” Now he sees the same thing happening in the comic book world.
In a telling Instagram post, Sean praised DC Comics for their great work in promoting diversity through legendary hero Superman.
Breaking Asian Barriers
A longtime comic book fan, Sean was thrilled that DC Comics has created a leading man that he could look up to that resembles him.
During a career that brought him from a job as an attendant at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Valencia, California where he was first “discovered” to an unlikely jaunt as a model, Sean realizes that his career has been a series of lucky circumstances.
The actor won the Mr. Asia USA pageant. With that, he earned a $1,500 cash prize and a one-year acting class at the Michael John Studio in Van Nuys, California.

He was able to get acting roles but as an ethnic actor struggled against being typecast.
“I’m not Asian enough to play Asian roles and I’m not white enough to play white roles,” he told Buzz Feed.
This is why Sean is thrilled to see more acceptance of Asian characters in traditional roles in the media.
“After all these years, I finally have a leading man Role Model, an Asian Super-Man. Watch this YouTube link for more info. This is real my friends,” he concluded.
