Days of Our Lives' Aiden: His Return Was More of a Secret Than You Think

Word leaked months ago that actor Daniel Cosgrove was on the “Days of Our Lives” set taping scenes as Aiden, but it turned out the actor had been back at work for months before the leaks.

According to Michael Fairman Soaps, Aiden was barely “dead” before Cosgrove breathed life into the role once again. Aiden was allegedly killed in November, but just a few weeks later, Cosgrove was again a regular on the DAYS set.

Of course, with DAYS’ long taping lead time, Cosgrove had been out of work nearly six months before he brought Aiden back to life.

“I stopped working in the middle of June of 2015…and I just assumed I was done,” Cosgrove told Fairman. “They had killed Aiden. He is dead. They picked him up in a body bag and there is no explaining this away. Although, forgetting everything I have learned doing daytime for years, you can explain anything away! I think we started having a conversation about me coming back in August of last year, and I started working again in mid-November.”

Cosgrove admitted her had some hesitancy about the doppelganger story, but trusted the writers to make it work.

“I had my concerns thinking, ‘Well, how are they going to do this?’,” Cosgrove said. “I know in daytime anything goes, and an audience can be very forgiving, but not everyone. They maybe are like, ‘We have seen this before so we will go with it’ or ‘We have seen this before we are bored with it.’ If it’s written well, you hope that most people will buy into it.’

Expect Aiden to fight for Hope (Kristian Alfonso) because she’s his wife after all, but Cosgrove did admit he sees how the audience is now invested in Hope and Rafe (Galen Gering).

“That is a couple that has Bo’s blessing! That’s heavy. If they are giving that blessing from Bo, then they are pretty much telling the viewers: ‘This is your couple.’ But I will say, Aiden is going to come in to this and be like, ‘I have something to say about that!'”

With Cosgrove’s name in the credits as of his first day back last Monday, it looks like his return will be long-term. The actor told Fairman he’s definitely back for the foreseeable future there’s no doubt about one thing–he is playing Aiden Jennings.
