If there is one thing that Days of Our Lives knows how to do, it’s throw a fantastical soap opera wedding we can only dream of! Some of daytime’s most amazing nuptials have taken place in Salem, cementing the love of legendary supercouples.
Walk down memory lane with us for some of the most romantic weddings in DAYS history.
Sami and Lucas
Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and Lucas Roberts Horton (Bryan Dattilo) just couldn’t seem to stay away from each other, marrying three times during over the course of more than 20 yeas. For Sami’s seventh wedding, she thought her day wouldn’t be marred by tragedy as her six other ceremonies were.
Of course, her past caught up to her once again as Kate discovered that “Stan,” who exacted a vengeful spree upon Salem, was really Sami. During the wedding, Kate burst into the ceremony dressed in Sami’s “Stan” disguise and exposed Sami, causing Lucas to call off the wedding.
Marlena and Roman Brady/John Black
Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) took in John Black as a patient, only to eventually find out that John was her missing husband, Roman Brady. What the twosome didn’t know was that the diabolical Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) had a hand in their union.
He brainwashed John Black into thinking he was Roman Brady and the real Roman was still alive. However, couple was unaware of this twisted bit of information on their wedding day.
Bo and Hope
Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) royal wedding on location in England was one of the most spectacular daytime weddings of all time. Hope’s dress cost around $35,000. The couple had weathered many storms to that point. Hope was ready to wed sly politician Larry Welch, but Bo kidnapped the bride and the two rode off on his motorcycle.
Larry’s goons later kidnapped Hope and she was forced to marry him anyway, making her trapped in a loveless marriage. They finally reunited after the couple made love for the first time at an old plantation in New Orleans. Almost a year later, they thwarted a British villain name “The Dragon” and Queen Elizabeth threw them a wedding as thanks.
Steve and Kayla
This couple endured many obstacles on their road to the altar. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) was wed to Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), but her heart was with Steve “Patch” Johnson (Stephen Nichols). Jack wanted to be a political player but was blackmailed by a reporter who found photos of Steve and Kayla together. Jack confronted Kayla, and angrily raped her.
Later, an explosion caused her to lose her hearing, and emotional trauma took her voice away. When Steve and Kayla finally married on a yacht, her hearing had returned and her voice made a comeback in time to say the vows.
Will and Sonny
Days of Our Lives’ first gay wedding featured Will (son of Lucas and Sami) marry Sonny (son of Justin and Adrienne), becoming the first gay male couple marry on daytime.
Will was in denial about his sexuality and tried to unsuccessfully convince himself and everyone around him that he was straight. Over time and with the love and support of Sonny, Will was finally able to come out and be the man he was born to be. The couple would eventually wed in a one of daytime’s most touching ceremonies.
