She started her Days of Our Lives (DOOL) career back in 1968, and now Susan Seaforth Hayes is celebrating a huge milestone!
The legendary actress was born on July 11, 1943 in Oakland, California, which means that today she is turning 75 years old! Her late mother, daytime scribe Elizabeth Harrower, changed her surname from Seabold to Seaforth, after the Seaforth Highlanders, a Scottish Highland regiment.
The Daytime Emmy-nominated star and winner of the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Emmy is also celebrating 50 years since she made her debut in Salem as Julie. Since then she has been on and off the show several times but DAYS gave her the greatest gift of all.
In 1974, she married her co-star, Bill Hayes, who plays her onscreen husband, Doug Williams. They made daytime history as the first actors to grace the cover of Time Magazine for its January 12, 1976 issue, cementing their legendary status in the industry.
Before DAYS, Hayes appeared on many primetime shows, including Make Room For Daddy, Lassie, and Cavalcade of America, just to name a few.
But DAYS isn’t the only soap opera she’s appeared on. She also played Tracey Bregman’s (Lauren) mom, JoAnna Manning, on The Young and the Restless and even took her same role to The Bold and the Beautiful. She was also on Sunset Beach as D.A. Patricia Steele.
She’s even made the jump to web series, appearing in former DAYS co-star Crystal Chappell’s (ex-Carly) show, Venice The Series.
