DAYS 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards Pre-Nominations: Shocks and Snubs!

Now that the pre-nominations for the 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced, it’s time to see who from Days of Our Lives (DOOL) was deserving, who was snubbed (though it’s hard to know if the actor even submitted themselves), and who was just a plain shock!

Outstanding Actress
Making the list are Judi Evans (Adrienne Kiriakis/Bonnie Lockhart), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Johnson), and Marci Miller (Abigail). Both Evans ladies are previous winners and had strong storylines.

Seeing Judi Evans in lead was a bit surprising but not shocking. Miller may be new, but she’s had a hell of year filled with meaty material. Glaring omission: Deidre Hall who also did double duty as Marlena and Hattie.

Outstanding Actor
It feels like most of the male cast made the pre-nom list — Billy Flynn (Chad), Galen Gering (Rafe), Eric Martsolf (Brady), Stephen Nichols (Steve), and James Reynolds (Abe) made the grade.

All of them had a fantastic year so it’s hard to say who should be left off but will they split the votes too thin allowing actors from other shows to get the official nom?

Outstanding Supporting Actress
The same could be said for this category, which has Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), Eileen Davidson (Susan/Kristen/Sister Mary), Susan Hayes (Julie), and Arianne Zucker (Nicole). Zucker is a shock in supporting considering when she was on, she was practically the whole show.

For Davidson, blink and you practically missed her. Seeing Hayes certainly warms our hearts but where was Camila Banus (Gabi)?

Outstanding Supporting Actor
Now DAYS seems to be in a better position with this category by having only Chandler Massey (Will) and Greg Vaughan (Eric).

Emmy loves Massey as he already has a pile of them while Vaughan did some incredibly nuanced work as Eric found a way to finally forgive himself for killing his best friend. It might have been nice to see Thaao Penghlis (Andre), Bryan Dattilo (Lucas), or Christopher Sean (Paul).

Outstanding Younger Actress
This was a fascinating category as Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire), Victoria Konefal (Ciara), and Paige Searcy (Jade) received the pre-noms.

Interesting because Konefal has barely been on – though terrific – and it feels like years ago when Searcy played out Jade’s miscarriage. Keegan certainly had interesting material to play during the year and should also be competitive.

Outstanding Younger Actor
DAYS has strong contenders in this category with newcomer Lucas Adams (Tripp), James Lastovic (Joey), and Casey Moss (JJ). All three had tough storylines and did a lot with them.

Lastovic did great work with the miscarriage story as well as Joey being plagued by killing Ava. Moss deserves any kudos anyone would hand him for JJ’s depression and suicidal thoughts. But where was Kyler Pettis (Theo)?
