Dario and Abby on Days of our Lives
Desperate to protect her true love Chad, Abigail agrees to leave Salem with her duplicitous husband Dario on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
That is, after Dario (Jordi Vilasuso) blackmails her, by threatening to expose an incriminating photo of her ex hovering over Deimos’ dead body with a knife.
An Innocent Man
“Abby knows Chad (Billy Flynn) didn’t kill Deimos,” says Marci Miller. “So she’s doing what she has to do to save him.”
Initially, Abigail believes she won’t have to cave to Dario’s demands. She knows the photo is on his computer and a few other places. All she has to do is make sure all copies of it are deleted and destroyed. So, she enlists Andre (Thaao Penghlis) and Theo’s (Kyler Pettis) help.

Destroying the Evidence
“Abby’s trying to do two things,” explains Miller. “She wants to ruin the evidence that makes it look like Chad killed Deimos, and she wants to back Dario into a corner. She knows that he’s been counterfeiting money and stealing from all these companies; including DiMera Enterprises.
“It’s personal to her, and she wants to put a stop to it. She’s trying to back Dario into a corner [by exposing him], so she won’t have to go to Mexico with him.”
Ace in the Hole
Despite Abigail, Andre, and Theo’s best efforts to destroy all of the incriminating photos of Chad, Dario produces an ace in the hole. Turns out he has one additional copy of it and he promises he’ll use it.
“Dario tells Abby that if she doesn’t leave town with him and come to Mexico, he’s going to show the picture to the whole world and Chad is going to go to jail for the rest of his life,” recounts Miller.
“[Things] get down to the wire. Abby has a plan and is hoping the information [against Dario] is going to come to head… that he’s going to be captured for his crimes. But until it does, she’s got to pretend she’s going away with him.”

When Chad gets wind of his ex-wife’s travel plans, he shows up at her door.
“He doesn’t understand what she’s doing and feels her actions are irrational,” says Miller. “He says, ‘You’re going to leave our son?’
Since Abby’s trying to protect Chad, she has to keep him in the dark about why she’s leaving.
“She just says, ‘I’ve got to go. It might not be forever. I might be coming back, but I’ve got to leave, right now,’” continues Miller. “For Dario, the whole issue is time sensitive. He wants to leave town as quickly as possible. He wants to avoid being held accountable for what he’s done.”
Forced to Leave
Chad doesn’t buy Abigail’s explanation and demands to know what’s really going on. “We have a scene where Abby is in the middle and both men are kind of pulling on her, back and forth,” notes Miller.
In the end, Abigail only has one choice: curtailing to Dario’s demands. “In Abby’s head and heart, she’s going to Mexico, but her plan is not to stay there. She’s thinking she’ll go there for a short time.
“Then, the truth will come out about what Dario has done. He’ll get arrested and go to jail, and Abby will be able to return to Salem and reclaim her life.”
