Will Nicole Walker DiMera be able to resist her ex?
Poor Nicole can’t catch a break on Days of our Lives. First, she was told her baby died. Then she was told that the baby she knows is her baby isn’t her baby. And now, Holly is recovering from a New Year’s Eve drug overdose. First, Eric was there to comfort her over the loss of her son. Now, he’s there to support her as she sits vigil by her daughter’s bedside. He’s just always…there. How long until EJ DiMera decides he’s had enough?
On the one hand, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) has been a rock for Nicole (Arianne Zucker). He understands her grief over their son, and her fear for her daughter. EJ loved Nicole so much that if she has to get her emotional support from someone else, he is a big enough man to do what was best for her, not for his own ego. Even if that support comes from Eric (Greg Vaughan).
On the other hand, EJ is a DiMera. Sure, it would be nice if his wife loved him. But, that has very little to do with whether or not she stays with him. DiMera women stay DiMera women until they are given permission to leave. And, EJ has no intention of ever giving permission to leave. No matter how goo-goo-eyed Eric looks at her, or how goo-goo-eyed she looks back at him. EJ is in charge of this marriage. Including when — and if — it ends.
At the moment, EJ is resigned to being Nicole’s rock. While she weeps over Holly (Ashley Puzemis), EJ puts Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) in jail to show her how much he cares. (Though how Tate being imprisoned will, in any way, help Holly’s body recover, is a moot point.) He is even willing to let Eric provide a shoulder for Nicole to cry on. But, only up to a point. Once Holly wakes up, EJ’s patience will shut down and he’ll want his wife back. Without her ex always hanging around.
