Why DAYS’ Stefan DiMera Got Exactly What He Deserved From EJ

Stefan DiMera is in a bind thanks to Clyde blackmailing him to do his dirty work on Days of our Lives. Either Stefan runs his drugs or Stefan’s wife will pay the price in prison. Stefan is desperate to get out from under Clyde’s thumb — why else would he turn to his brother for help? Yeah, the brother he got fired from the top spot at the family company.

Stefan DiMera: Reap What You Sow

Stefan (Brandon Barash) was hat in hand (figuratively) when he approached EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and unloaded all his worries about what Clyde (James Read) would do to Gabi if he didn’t run his drugs. He needed EJ to use that other side of the family business to get rid of Clyde once and for all. The only problem — Stefan seemed to have conveniently forgotten all the awful things he’d done recently, with Gabi by his side leading the charge, to ruin EJ’s life. Funny though, EJ hadn’t forgotten (read more about that here).

When EJ was at his lowest point, having just lost his son (never mind that the baby isn’t his, EJ doesn’t know that), a thoughtless Stefan burst into his hospital room where Nicole (Arianne Zucker) was distraught simply to yell at his brother to let Gabi go. While we know that Gabi is innocent, she was standing over Li (Remington Hoffman) with a bloody knife and the man did accuse her of stabbing him with his dying breath. There wasn’t much choice in the matter for EJ.

Let’s also not forget that right after EJ’s wedding to Nicole, Stefan and Gabi took great delight in firing EJ from a job he loved. This was the culmination of weeks of dirty tricks to get family members’ shares under their control. Also, it was after a supposed truce on the whole matter between EJ and Stefan.

So while it was a dicey proposition to ask the Salem D.A. to do something illegal in the first place, asking someone — your own brother who’ve you done some awful things to within the last few weeks — was even more outrageous. Stefan would have been smarter to ask Chad (Billy Flynn) since he hates Clyde too for murdering his beloved wife. Only now, he has tipped off EJ. So if anything does happen to Clyde, EJ won’t have to look far for the culprit.
