Why Chad Needs To Brush Up on His Days of our Lives History

The self-pity and melodrama were running strong with Chad on Days of our Lives. Johnny asked his uncle to be his best man when Johnny marries Chanel this Valentine’s Day. This prompted Chad to launch into an aria about how anyone who marries into the DiMera clan is doomed — doomed, I tell you! Why he needs a little Salem history lesson to put his woe-is-me routine into perspective.

Close to Home

Chad’s (Billy Flynn) example of why the DiMeras were cursed included Abigail’s (Marci Miller) death and Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker) loss of her newborn son. This never would have happened if they hadn’t hitched their stars to Chad’s cursed clan, and Chad will not let Johnny (Carson Boatman) do that to Chanel (Raven Bowens)! Um, as they say on the Internet: Citation needed.

Far Afield

Yes, Abigail died, and Nicole thinks she lost her baby. This is totes sad. But it’s hardly exclusive to the DiMeras. Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) husband just died (refresh your memory about that here). And he was a Kiriakis. Sarah’s (Linsay Godfrey) first daughter died at birth. And Sarah is a Horton.

Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo’s (Peter Reckell) son, Zach, was killed in a car accident. Justin’s (Wally Kurth) wife, Adrienne (Judi Evans) died the same way. Not DiMeras. More recently, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) had a miscarriage, Paulina (Jackée Harry) was diagnosed with cancer, and Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa’s (Emily O’Brien) son was arrested. Not DiMeras.

Bigger Picture

Chad’s conviction that only members of the DiMera family suffer tragedies reeks a bit of self-centeredness. He thinks only of himself and assumes that the bad things that happen to him happen because of who he is — rather than accepting that terrible, horrible things happen to everyone in Salem. He’s just too busy assuming that no one has ever suffered the way he’s now suffering because he hasn’t bothered to notice other people feeling just as awful. And that doesn’t say anything positive about Chad.
