For far too long now, DAYS’ Suzanne Rogers has sat on the sidelines, relegated to nothing more than a talk to. But a new day has dawned, and Rogers, as expected, has risen to the occasion.
Suzanne Rogers — Performer of the Week
Boy did Maggie have news for Alex (Robert Scott Wilson)…if only he’d let her get a word in edgewise. While he prattled on and on, Maggie listened…and waited. Finally, she found an opportunity to elucidate exactly why Alex wouldn’t be taking over as CEO of Titan — he’s character had been blackened by one Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), and how!
With a biting flourish, Rogers then launched into an animated relay of the conversation that had transpired between Victor (the late, great John Aniston) and that “worthless, conniving little troll.”
“[Leo] regaled your uncle with this lurid tale about you having a threesome with two bisexual women…[He’s] also alleging that, um, your affair with Allie Horton destroyed her relationship with Chanel Dupree.”
So what, wondered Alex. Also, it wasn’t an “affair” so much as it was a drunken one-night mistake.
“Well, is that supposed to make you seem more stable?” questioned Maggie, the sarcasm dripping from Rogers’s voice. Afterward, it was incredulous that Rogers exhibited. How could Alex not get that his actions have painted him in a less-than-flattering light?! “Your personal life is a liability…and your uncle is not willing to take that risk.”
In that case, who is it that Victor chose to succeed Sonny (Zach Tinker)? Who’s going to be the big cheese? The top dog? The man in charge? Is it one of his brothers? His father, perhaps? Xander?! No, no, and no.
Then who?! “Me,” revealed Maggie. With her tone alone, Rogers projected both authority and an underlining sense of disappointment that she — well, her alter ego to be precise — had been overlooked and discounted — and not for the first time.
When Alex blanched, Maggie launched into her pedigree. She’s owned and operated two highly successful restaurants, she’s been married to a corporate shark for over a decade, and what’s more, she oversaw the running of a sizeable farm all by her lonesome while handicapped.
Impressed but put out, Alex insisted on phoning Victor and hearing the news straight from the horse’s mouth, and this provided Suzanne Rogers with an actors showcase.
While Alex and Victor conversed, Rogers steered Maggie through exasperation, righteous indignation, obvious empathy for Alex’s plight, and steely resolve to perform the task set for her — whether Alex got on board or not.
