Days of our Lives had a brief Tony mystery this week when the character went missing, even though he wasn’t on-screen. It has only added more fuel to the fire that Tony may not be Tony.
Key Takeaways
- Tony isn’t acting like himself.
- The character is giving off Andre vibes.
- It seems like there’s more to his going missing than DAYS fans know.
What’s Happening With Tony on DAYS?
From the moment Tony (Thaao Penghlis) returned to Salem, he hasn’t seemed like himself. Tony came back guns blazing to rip DiMera away from Xander (Paul Telfer) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier).
That in itself isn’t a surprise, considering Chad (Billy Flynn), EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel), and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) were doing nothing to get their father’s company back.
Tony made a couple of moves that were more like Andre (Thaao Penghlis) than him. One was scheming with Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) to get the goods on Philip and Xander, only to toss her aside for Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews).
Another is appointing Theo as CEO, as opposed to sticking around Salem and running the company. Theo is an odd choice, but we also know that he’s really the only good DiMera family member choice besides Tony right now.
However, even though those moves are not Tony-like, he is a DiMera, and they all channel their inner Stefano (the late Joseph Mascolo) at some point. All of these things alone didn’t raise red flags, but Tony’s brief disappearance is another story.
There’s a reason DAYS had those scenes without Tony ever being on-screen, following his recent behavior. Signs point to a Tony switch happening very subtly off-screen. We think that Tony has been Tony, but perhaps Andre or someone else was pulling the strings.
Now that Tony was MIA for a minute, that could mean that Andre has taken his place. The timing would be right, as a lot of Stefano talk has been going down lately.
Perhaps Andre was using Tony all along to help him find a way to bring back Stefano’s essence. Marlena (Deidre Hall) has been having Queen of the Night dreams, and that’s no coincidence either.
So to recap here quickly: it certainly seems like DAYS has set the stage for a mystery involving Tony that might also include an Andre return. Yes, we know, Andre died in 2018. But this is Salem, where people come back from the dead all the time.
